this $10 baby tote from bagladies just puts it out there what you're carrying around in there. i think this is perfect both for irreverent moms and vulgar dads.

get these buttons from rue st. denis in NYC to make a statement and ward off the best intentions of PETA. word on the street says call 212-260-3388 to order. Medium button is $15, large button is $20.

custom order

vicki ambery-smith makes custom silverware and jewelery based on buildings and architecture, my favorites being these rings. the one on the right could also function as a pretty great set of brass knuckles (and i think i've found the commission to request if i ever attend a thug renn faire ...) -- also, check her list of outlets.

want

i'm seething with jealousy. please feast your eyes on this "labyrinth aquarium," which goes for a mere $5500 at opulent items.

kerplunk

these spash-themed bowls at MoMA are $40 for a set of three, and while i think the "splashiest" one is the best i do think these would look great for a sushi set up like they've gone for or maybe a salsa trio?

i want 2!

today's a woot off...'ware the impulse purchases.

music nerd sale

20% off the entire books & design section at turntable lab. including this poster by finest elements ($24 marked down from $30).

"you're strange and wonderful"

so i heard of zeichen press from a post over at moue magazine. zeichen is having a "buy five get 1 free sale" so head on over. most cards are around $4, like this one above.

for the wall

these ready-to-hang "lak hooks" are pretty sweet .... on sale at urban outfitters for $4 a pop (down from $6), you can't actually pick the colour you get, so i'm gonna buy two and hope for the best.

no sale but ...

if your relationship with your mother is just so, you might be able to harness the genius of this mother's day card. i, on the other hand, can't quite get away with calling my mom a "crazy old bitch." props to jeanfrancisbean. $3.50. there's a few other off-colour mother's day cards there too.

pulp

i'm not sure if i stumbled upon these magnets ($8) by radpanda at etsy on my own or through some other blog's tip, but, she basically makes cool magnets out of EVERYTHING. i'm pretty sure these images are similar to the chronicle books pulp comic postcard set, which i love as well.

what was i thinking?

so these photo albums are absolutely genius, albeit (as many nice things are) quite pricey at $25 a pop. the fake book covers have the following titles ... Friends and Family (in forest green), Travels Near and Far (brown), Memories (brown), Our Grandkids (maroon), Top Dog (maroon), What Was I Thinking (forest green), and I Can't Remember (maroon). from bas bleu.

i'm a good son, honest.

so i was pretty delighted when my favorite mother's day flower arrangement at teleflora also ended up being one of the cheapest ... these flowers were just $35, and the $10 off coupon (promotion code: psgg10d if it doesn't show up) basically gave me free shipping!

if it needs saying, order your flowers pronto! may 11th is mother's day.

gratitude

many thanks to allie from fraske designs for keeping the ball rolling here at object d'crave while i was away. hopefully we'll see more of her guest posts in the future. as i've mentioned before, fraske designs does primarily prints and notecards, like this detail above.

check out her store over at etsy, thoughtful meanderings over on her blog (my most recent favorite is the recipe/masterplan for making tetris brownies) and her design website.

Wanna Make Out?

For just $975 including shipping, you too can cuddle up with your honey on this Studio 65 Bocca Sofa from CSN Stores. As if a kiss shaped couch is not cool enough, this smacker is built to withstand the elements so you can keep it inside by the fireplace or outside under the stars!

side a: come back to me / side b: you're like bad crack

mistape pillowcases! $25 at modcloth. god i love cassette tape-based design. i really can't get enough of it.

i wonder if something might be wrong with me.

however you DO need ...

...this $3700 chair from uncommon goods. i still can't figure out how to resize the windows from this shop, i'm sorry. and unfortunately the item description indicates that "gift boxing is not available for this item."

you don't need it. really.

so this is sort of the opposite message than what i'm usually saying, but i saw this post at the consumerist where you can send an SASE to the address below and they'll give you these stickers. useful for the billboard or shop window that taunts you every day when you walk into work, for instance.

genius t-shirt, $34 smackaroos at turntable lab.

art imitating reality imitating life?

apparently this herb planter, among other pieces at chiasso, is part of the new(est) real world: hollywood set. either way, i love both the chrome and the $38 price tag.

so ive actually gone to the gym for 3 days in a row, so in honour of that i'm going to put up this post dedicated to etsy sweatbands. the first set from buzzingBOTS is $18 for a set of two, which includes free shipping to U.S. residents, a $3 donation to a SF YMCA and special ninja powers. the second wristband is from loving anvil and shows a lovely deer on an american apparel sweatband for $16. no ninja powers though.

boygirlparty

these square greeting cards come packaged in sets of 2 for the price of $5. good deal. i've always liked chickadees. they remind me of belugas ... not as sleek or graceful as their brethren, but all puffed up and adorable just the same. thanks boygirlparty. as a rule they make lovely things, like this octopus do to list ($8):

... your garden grow

its not out until early may, but i adore this watering can. it makes me even more jealous of other people who don't live in a (wait for the irony) garden-level apartment without even a glimpse of the sun. $44 from patina.

that stuff'll kill you

another clever vessel for caffeinated beverages from mollaspace, this gun mug has a place for your fidgety trigger finger that'll just release stress, no bullets. $15.

heart tea?

this lovely tea cup and saucer is perfect for your tea-swilling honeypie. sometimes they have them in pink, but at the moment you'll have to be satisfied with the white. $20 at mollaspace.

when i grow up ...

man, nice forks and knives are expensive. dealhack clued me into this sale at oneida, but even then this lovely capello pattern is $110 just for the 5 piece service for 4. still, look at those lovely weighted curves ... someday.

bird's egg view

another rare bird finds-inspired post, i found this bird nest window project ($15) over at hearthsong after musing over these upside-down tomato planters (also $15). the tomato planters are probably more of a sure thing since its hard to force the birds to make a nest against your window, but if you're already a bird-feeder type maybe they're both equally possible.

green living

rare bird finds posted about this "vintage shopper" ($20) on their etsy saturday post, and i was really taken by the entire concept. the cotton and the concept (i.e. reusable shopping bags) are both green/organic, the illustration is great and the execution is both clever and affordable. showpony also sells a line of similar purses ($16):

alas no photo

so i just spent forever trying to upload this lovely french poster but i can't because embedding is disabled ... which i guess is fair if you're allposter.com ... but still, i'm annoyed. the poster above is from the clearance section, and at 16" x 20" is $6. Coupon code MCARD3 cuts 20% off purchases, including clearance, when used at checkout. Expires 06/30/2008. via bargainist.

accessory to dinner

has anyone seen aeon flux? these salt & pepper shakers remind me of those things she had in the tunnel. either way, i think these are modern yet tasteful. $30 for a pair at scandinavian design center.

a second elsewares post ....

i just found this innovative vase/candle-holder ($95, but only $80 if you use the coupon code from my previous post) on elsewares and had to tell you about it. it would be complemented by this coat hook ($76, but $65 with the coupon) below which incidently is right-handed while the vase is left-handed ...
